Established in 2008, Korten Consulting Ltd is a Mauritian based boutique legal and tax advisory consultancy firm, strategically positioned with offices in Mauritius, a consulting office in Cape Town, South Africa and an extensive network of associated service providers across multiple jurisdictions. Founded by Mark Korten, a seasoned South African attorney with three decades of expertise in African commercial and tax law, our focus spans South Africa, Mauritius and select sub-Saharan African countries, catering predominantly to clients engaged in business activities across the African continent. Our primary clientele comprises owner managed businesses, entrepreneurs and affluent families residing or conducting business within sub-Saharan Africa. Mark Korten, CEO of Korten Consulting Ltd in Mauritius and a consultant at specialist tax attorneys Pieterse Sellner Erasmus in Cape Town, South Africa, brings over 30 years of experience in tax and commercial law. Holding a Bachelor of Commerce degree with majors in Accounting and Economics from the University of Cape Town, along with degrees in Law and a High Diploma (Masters) in Tax Law from the University of Witwatersrand, Mark has extensive experience drafting and advising on various commercial transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and international tax structures. His expertise spans the use of various jurisdictions, including Mauritius, South Africa, Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey, Monaco, Cook Islands, Malta, Cyprus, Dubai, Hong Kong, Barbados, Liechtenstein, Seychelles, British Virgin Islands, and the USA.

Prof. Dr. Daniel N. Erasmus

Dr. Daniel N Erasmus, a senior counsel in tax litigation, focuses on international tax issues for multi-national corporations. With over 33 years of experience, his expertise includes income tax planning, Revenue Service proceedings, and tax litigation. Holding a PhD in Tax and Constitutional law, he is an international tax adjunct professor at Middlesex University and the founder of www.IITF.net, offering international tax programs. Dr. Erasmus has authored numerous textbooks on tax risk management, VAT, CGT, and exchange control issues.

Schalk Pieterse

Schalk Pieterse, co-founder and co-owner of Pieterse Sellner Erasmus TRM Tax Attorneys, is a practicing South African tax attorney with 14 years of experience in tax law. Specializing in tax dispute resolution, he guides a team of professionals in dealing with tax law disputes, Tax Administration Act, VAT Act, ETI Act, and Income Tax Disputes. Co-authoring a book on the Tax Administration Act with Prof. Dr. Daniel Erasmus, Schalk also lectures in tax law at IITF and is completing his Doctorate in Tax and Constitutional Law at Nelson Mandela University. Recognized for achievements, fellowships, honours, and academic distinctions, Schalk heads a specialist boutique tax law firm representing corporates, conglomerates, small to medium enterprises, and individuals.
